The President then asked Charlie to talk about the changes on the club website regarding a new club emblem. Charlie noted other clubs posted their own logo. He passed around a suggested unique logo he has included on the club webpage. The discussion about this logo led to logos added to the back of club shirts.
Dick explained the options of putting logos on our club shirts, etc. Essentially the options are iron-on print and screen print and the difference in pricing. Dick gave his reasons for choosing the screen print option. The President has several places he would like to check before a decision is made. The club was shown a proposed image. The President stated that this would only be “another choice,” not a replacement for the shirts we are presently wearing. This proposal is a means to promote our Model A Club via a larger clearer emblem of who we are when we are together at club functions. Toni shared how the New Orleans A’s display their club. Using embroidery was discussed and found to have long term issues with ware and increased expense. Ed suggested considering windbreakers with our club logo since a new logo is being considered.

Then, the President outlined the Director-at-Large’s duties.
Charlie was asked to make a presentation to the Club detailing with visuals: the Club’s web and facebook page presentations and how to access the site. It was noted that the club was formed 32 years ago and was reorganized in 2008 with new Bylaws. In order to conserve data space the club agreed that only the last 3 months of Minutes would be archived. It was decided listed items “for sale” may be listed only by club members. On the Facebook “activity response” request: if a member agrees to attend, the page is set up to add the event in the member’s smart phone calendar and it will give a tone reminder. Charlie requested someone to be familiar enough to back him up if needed.
Ed Matthew reported that several months ago the club decided to make a trip to The Dinner Bell Restaurant in McComb, MS. per Stan Eriksen’s suggestion. It was attended by Dick, Stan, Chris and Ed. It was a worthwhile trip for the experience of eating there and fellowship. However, it was considered, taking the necessary back roads off the interstate would be quite a challenge in a Model A for a one day round trip.
The President addressed the club members to apologize for not being able to carry out his duties as he expected. Due to family medical issues that demanded his immediate attention he had to ask Past President Dick to stand in for him in June and then he wasn’t able to attend the July activity gathering, again: due to family medical issues.
The President called attention to the 2008 reorganizational ByLaws. Phil stated the ByLaws fixed our meeting on the second Tuesday of each month. An amendment was suggested to legally change the meeting day to the first Tuesday of each month. Keith made a Motion: The monthly meeting shall be on the first Tuesday of each month. Ken provided a Second. The Motion was 100 % approved. It was decided that the ByLaws would be posted on a Club Facebook “Members only page.” The President then read the ByLaws so that all were aware of the scope of its contents. This Motion was passed without a 5 day notification waiting period, as the practice was established.
Mechanics Minute presented by President Phil was about flower vases, called a “bud vase,” offered in new Model A’s by Henry Ford. They were made out of silver or glass. The purpose is to combat offensive odors with fresh flowers. Gardenias, Magnolias, and Roses were suggested. Roses, as suggested by Caroline, were the likely flower of choice for fragrance and seasonal availability. Dick noted a number of different styles.
Ken’s invitation to see his Model A restoration project at his home was brought up by Ken. There will be a day and time set this month, after he confers with his wife. The President will inform members via TEXT after Ken confirms the date. Thus ensued a discussion about notifications and responses: Text and email will both be utilized for now, as some members only have TEXT capability.
Bing will seek to set a Sunday 23 August 2 p.m. luncheon activity at Trey Yuen.
