Spring into Self-Worth
After Valentine’s Day we are halfway to the first day of spring. Likewise, we look forward to moving our clocks ahead for daylight savings time. I always get a lift thinking the daylight will be an hour longer, which feels so great.
We can jump into a spring frame of mind by using some of my favorite tools from 40 years of psychotherapy and meditation.
1) Make the goal of self-worth, not as a self improvement program or even by using affirmations. What we are looking for is radical self acceptance. Having more of you, rather than reforming yourself. Be like me, wanting to be “extremely Norm,” in the authentic sense.
2). Starting in the morning, walk with your chin one inch higher and experience the physical effects of being more extremely yourself.

Try these questions, breathing:
-Do you value your reasons for staying small more than the light shining through the open door?

-Can you walk, without any certain direction, with the corners of your mouth turned slightly upward?
As you walk, become aware of things you haven’t seen at first glance.
-Ask yourself “am I worthy of love?” and simply listen to the vastness answering quietly, “Of course, my child. I am your universe."
