Etsy can take up to seven different fees from one sale. Below is each fee as it stands in October 2026, three worked examples (US, UK and Germany), and a simple way to price so the fees don't eat your profit. To run your own numbers, use the free Etsy fee calculator.
Listing fee: $0.20 per listing. It renews every 4 months, and each sale renews it again for another $0.20. Charged in US dollars and converted to your currency.
Transaction fee: 6.5% of the order total, including the shipping and gift wrap you charge.
Payment processing: depends on the country of your bank account. US 3% + $0.25. UK 4% + £0.20. Most EU countries 4% + €0.30. Canada 3% + C$0.25 and Australia 3% + A$0.25 (4% on international orders). It's charged on the order total including any sales tax or VAT the buyer pays.
Regulatory operating fee: a percentage of the order total in some countries. Since 22 June 2026: UK 0.48%, France 1.14%, Italy 0.80%, Spain 0.88%. Canada 0.50%. None in the US or Germany.
Offsite Ads fee: only when a sale comes from an Etsy ad on another website. 15% of the order total, or 12% if your shop made $10,000+ in the last 12 months, capped at $100 per order.
Currency conversion: 2.5% if you list in a different currency from your bank account.
VAT or GST on Etsy's fees: sellers in the UK and EU pay VAT on top of all these fees unless they are VAT-registered and can reclaim it (UK 20%, Germany 19%, France 20%). Australia adds 10% GST and New Zealand 15% unless you have given Etsy your GST number. In Canada, Etsy charges GST/HST, PST or QST depending on your province and tax status.
Item $25 plus $5 shipping makes a $30 order. Listing fee $0.20, transaction fee $1.95, payment processing $1.15 (3% of $30 + $0.25). Total fees: $3.30, or 11.0% of the order. If the same sale came through Offsite Ads, add $4.50: fees jump to $7.80, or 26%.
Item £20 plus £4 shipping makes a £24 order. Listing fee about £0.15, transaction fee £1.56, payment processing £1.16 (4% + £0.20), regulatory operating fee £0.12 (0.48%), and 20% VAT on those fees £0.60. Total fees: £3.58, or 14.9%.
Item €20 plus €5 shipping makes a €25 order, for a seller without a VAT number (for example a Kleinunternehmer). Listing fee about €0.18, transaction fee €1.63, payment processing €1.30 (4% + €0.30), and 19% VAT on those fees €0.59. Total fees: €3.69, or 14.8%. The same sale from France costs €4.07 because of the 1.14% regulatory fee and 20% VAT.
Add up your real cost per item: materials, packaging, labels and your time.
Include the shipping you charge. Etsy takes 6.5% plus processing on shipping too.
Work out the price for a target margin: price = (costs + fixed fees) ÷ (1 − percentage fees − target margin). The free calculator does this for you.
Check the Offsite Ads case. A 15% fee on top can turn a healthy margin into a loss.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The transaction fee and payment processing are charged on the shipping you charge, not just the item price.
Are these the 2026 Etsy fees?
Yes, checked in October 2026 against Etsy's Help Center, including the regulatory fee changes of 22 June 2026. Etsy can change fees at any time, so check your Payment account for the exact amounts.
Can I turn off Offsite Ads?
Only while your shop has made less than $10,000 in the last 12 months. Above that, Offsite Ads are mandatory at 12%.
Why do UK and EU sellers pay more?
Payment processing is 4% instead of 3%, some countries add a regulatory operating fee, and VAT is charged on top of Etsy's fees.
