When COVID hit the United States in March of 2020, as a nation students were not ready for learning from home. They quickly adapted to a new way of life inside and outside of our homes. A light was shed upon the new reality of how each household had differing levels of technology and knowledge of technology; and the traditional setting of school was not available for the unforeseeable future. Students had to quickly adapt to learning from home along with the adjustment of being away from friends and family. Thus, Google Classroom, Google Meets, Zoom, Seesaw, among other platforms of learning from a device became the new normal. Students did a fabulous job of getting work turned in and adjusting to life. They are now more knowledgeable than any other generation as a whole with technology at their fingertips. But how can it be fostered in a way that promotes learning in an educational setting? Educational Technology is here to help guide a path for learning.
There are instructional solutions out there to bridge the gap in learning caused by the unprecedented covid 19. Learning about what Educational Technology is and how it got its rich history is a start. Students will soon find out that their time invested in this field will offer a vast amount of job opportunities.
