Collaboration with Mélia Roger and Der Umwelt- und Gesundheitsschutz Zürich (UGZ) sonifying air quality data with a granular synthesis engine that processes field recordings captured in real-time
Results will be streamed via Locus Sonus open microphone streaming platform
Next steps: build microcontroller sensor suite and connect it to a Raspberry Pi single-board computer where it can feed data to the sonification algorithm; build a physical listening station (dependent on funding)
Artistic direction
As part of an ongoing IA Space project and proposal for the Finnish national opera, I have developed a prototype flying helium drone that functions as a sounding object using a Teensy microcontroller and an exciter
I am in the early stages of an investigation of the use of 3D impulse responses to characterize space and create a navigable I’m sitting in a Room-like installation where users can create and manipulate a feedback system in real-time as they move through a tracked space
Additional inspiration → 4 Rooms by Jacob Kirkegaard
I have taught courses related to the creation of avatars and virtual worlds
As part of the MA Interaction Design program (upcoming version this year will include MA Interactive Sound Design as well)
Assisted with teaching and mentoring in the context of Z-modules (Immersive Landschaften, Helium Drones) and various workshops at the Immersive Arts Space
Advising bachelor and masters students working with sound and installations
Various presentations on my research (Kein Kino, ZHdK Fellowship program, etc.)
I have taught courses on live coding with Sonic Pi (at HeK Basel and HKB Studienwoche)
