Nomi is a meal-planning and recipe application operated by Area13 Studio (“Area13 Studio,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
This Privacy Policy explains what information Nomi processes, why it is processed, how it is stored or shared, and the choices available to you.
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use Nomi.
Nomi is designed to work without requiring an account for its core V1 experience. Depending on the features you use, Nomi may store information locally on your device, including:
your profile/display name;
app language;
text-size preference;
saved menus;
usage counters for Free and Pro feature limits;
other app preferences needed to provide the experience.
This information is generally stored locally on your device using app storage such as SQLite.
If you delete the app, locally stored information may be deleted by iOS unless it is restored through an operating-system backup or otherwise retained by the platform.
Nomi first looks for matching recipes in its library. Accessing the library may require an internet connection. In version 1.0.1, Ask Nomi asks for your permission before sending an AI-required request through Nomi’s servers to OpenAI. You may decline and continue using available library results. When you allow AI processing, related Ask Nomi queries—including queries answered by the library—may also be recorded to monitor the service and identify gaps in the recipe library.
This information may include:
the text of your Ask Nomi request;
ingredients, meal preferences, dietary or allergy-related exclusions, custom exclusions, and nutrition goals included in or relevant to your request;
technical metadata needed to process the request;
a randomized installation identifier;
timestamps and request/result status;
usage information used for rate limits, abuse prevention, cost controls, and service-quality monitoring;
generated recipe content and related cached results.
Ask Nomi usage may be associated with a randomized installation identifier rather than a traditional user account.
Nomi may retain generated recipes for reuse. New generated recipes from version 1.0.1 are stored privately, with access restricted to the Nomi installation that created them. These records include related dietary and exclusion information. Authorized Nomi systems retain the access needed to operate the feature.
During the transition, older versions, including version 1.0.0, temporarily continue using the previous Ask Nomi service without the new permission controls. Earlier generated recipes remain shared through that service and are not restricted to the Nomi installation that created them. The new protections do not automatically delete those records or make them private.
Certain freshness-sensitive requests, such as requests involving current food-safety information, restaurants, or other time-sensitive food topics, may use web-enabled processing when supported by the service.
If you purchase Nomi Pro, payment is processed by Apple through the App Store.
Nomi does not receive your full payment-card details.
Nomi uses RevenueCat to help determine subscription and entitlement status. Information processed for this purpose may include:
App Store transaction and subscription status;
product purchased;
renewal or expiration status;
an app-specific or anonymous customer identifier;
technical information necessary to validate and restore purchases.
Nomi may process limited technical information necessary to:
operate the app;
prevent abuse;
enforce feature limits;
investigate failures;
protect paid AI infrastructure;
maintain service reliability.
Nomi V1 does not intentionally request access to your precise location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone for its core features.
We use information processed through Nomi to:
provide recipes, menus, shopping and cooking workflows;
save your preferences and saved menus;
provide and improve Ask Nomi;
deliver Nomi Free and Nomi Pro feature limits;
validate, restore, and manage subscription entitlements;
prevent fraud, abuse, excessive automated use, and unauthorized use of paid AI services;
diagnose errors and maintain reliability;
understand gaps in the recipe library and improve the product;
comply with legal obligations.
We do not use Nomi data for third-party advertising.
Nomi V1 does not include cross-app advertising tracking functionality.
Nomi may use the following service providers:
Apple processes App Store purchases, subscriptions, refunds, and account-level subscription management.
RevenueCat helps Nomi manage subscription entitlements and purchase restoration.
Supabase may provide backend database and Edge Function infrastructure used by Ask Nomi, cached AI results, usage controls, and related operational data.
When Ask Nomi requires AI generation, relevant request content may be processed by OpenAI through Nomi’s server-side integration to generate a response.
We require service providers to handle information consistently with their contractual and legal obligations. Their own privacy policies also apply to their independent processing activities.
Local app data remains on your device until you delete it through the app where a deletion option is available, clear the relevant content, or remove the app, subject to iOS backup behavior.
Server-side Ask Nomi data, generated-recipe cache records, and operational usage records are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to:
provide cached results;
enforce usage and abuse controls;
monitor service reliability and costs;
improve recipe coverage;
comply with legal obligations.
Because Nomi V1 does not require an account, some server-side records may be associated only with a randomized installation identifier. In those cases, we may not be able to identify a specific record as belonging to a particular person without additional information that links the request to that installation.
Subscription and transaction records are retained according to Apple’s, RevenueCat’s, and applicable legal requirements.
Our service providers may retain or process information in accordance with their applicable policies and legal obligations.
You may:
delete saved menus and other removable content using available in-app controls;
remove local Nomi data by deleting the app, subject to iOS backup behavior;
manage or cancel Nomi Pro through your Apple subscription settings;
contact us to ask questions about privacy or request deletion of server-side data that we can reasonably identify as associated with you.
In version 1.0.1, you can change or revoke AI permission from Profile. Revoking permission blocks future AI requests and optional analysis of Ask Nomi queries from that installation. It does not recall requests already sent or automatically delete existing generated recipes, permission records, usage analytics or service-cost records. Previously generated recipes may remain accessible through your app. Contact us using the details below for deletion requests.

We may need information sufficient to verify and locate the relevant data. Because Nomi V1 does not require an account, we may not be able to identify or delete records that cannot reasonably be linked to you.
Nomi’s service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate contractual or legal safeguards for international data transfers.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect information handled through Nomi.
Private AI provider credentials are intended to remain on server-side infrastructure and are not intended to be embedded in the iPhone application.
No security method is completely risk-free, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Nomi is not directed to children under 13.
If the law where you live requires a higher minimum age for a child to consent to data processing, a parent or legal guardian must provide any required consent.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to Nomi contrary to applicable law, contact us at area13.ops@gmail.com.
Nomi may process food preferences, dietary selections, allergy-related exclusions, and recipe requests in order to provide app functionality.
These inputs should not be treated as medical records or professional health advice.
You should always independently verify ingredients, labels, allergens, cross-contamination risks, and dietary suitability before preparing or consuming food.
We may update this Privacy Policy when Nomi’s features, service providers, legal requirements, or data practices change.
When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and provide additional notice when required by law.
