About Us
Nomads of the Messiah is a mission and publishing ministry of laymen belonging to the Orthodox Catholic Church. We share the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the love of God for His creation and mankind, by serving others through charity and telling our stories of the work of God in our own lives.
Eastern Orthodox Christianity is the oldest form of Christianity. The Orthodox Catholic Church is the original Christian Church founded by Jesus Christ over 2000 years ago. The title "Christ" comes from the Greek word "christos," which is the translation of the Hewbrew word "messiah," which means "anointed." Jesus is the one prophesied by the Jewish prophets, who is the savior of all mankind; He is not only the messiah but the Son of God. He has revealed the nature of the LORD God to mankind: The Holy Trinity, which is the mystery of one God in three divine persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus has also revealed the Will of the Father, which is that all men and women, made in His image, repent from sin, become holy, and inhreit eternal life in the age of the world to come, which is the Kingdom of God. Jesus Christ is the judge of mankind and the door to paradise.
As Orthodox Christians, we aim to be disciples of the Lord, which includes doings works for Him. We believe that all true Christians belong to the body of Christ, and thus glorify the Lord by obeying the law of God. All good things come from God, and so our mission to serve those in need, is only possible because of the goodness of God and His eternal love for mankind. All glory to God.
The faith of Eastern Orthodox Christianity can be understood by our creed, which is the Nicene Creed:
I believe in one God, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages; Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten, not created, of one essence with the Father through Whom all things were made. Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried; And He rose on the third day, according to the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father; And He will come again with glory to judge the living and dead. His kingdom shall have no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Creator of life, Who proceeds from the Father, Who together with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, Who spoke through the prophets.
In one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come.
Amen.
Our Team
Phillip Levin, Founder and Director of Ministry
Phillip was baptized in the name of Jesus as a baby and raised in the teachings of Jesus. He strayed from his faith for many years, looking for answers about reality as a theoretical physicist, when he had a profound and life-changing encounter with God. He was called by Jesus to follow Him and devote his life to teaching of Him. This led him to found the Nomads of the Messiah. He writes about his personal experiences and understandings of the Lord on the blog God and The World to Come. Phillip earned his B.S. in physics from the University of California, San Diego, his M.S. in physics from California State University, Los Angeles, and is earning his Ph.D. in physics from Arizona State University.
