Frequency-Domain functional Near-InfraRed Spectroscopy (FD-fNIRS)

FD-fNIRS is the instrument used to obtain the functional information of biological tissues. By measuring the attenuation and phase delay of intensity-modulated lights in NIR spectrum, absorption and scattering properties are extracted using the radiative transfer equation, diffusion equation, or Beer-Lambert law. Then the functional information can be obtained from the absorption properties of tissues. FD-fNIRS are used in various research area including brain science, psychology, psychiatry, and etc., because of its simplicity, mobility, and convenience of users.
