PROF. Wei Sheng Liu

Brief Bio

Wei-Sheng Liu received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from National Central University, Chung-Li, Taiwan, R.O.C., in 1999. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from National Central University in 2006. His Ph.D. dissertation dealt with molecular beam epitaxial (MBE) growth and development of long-wavelength InAs/GaAs quantum dot heterostructures and lasers.

He was a Senior Technical Staff with Epitaxy Engineering Division in Epistar Corporation, Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C. for the R&D and production of GaN LEDs in 2006. Since August 2009, he joined Yuan Ze University, Chung-Li, Taiwan, R.O.C., as a faculty member in Department of Electrical Engineering. His current research interests include III-V, Nitride-related, and oxide-based semiconductor materials and the related optoelectronic devices, quantum dot optoelectronic devices, IGZO thin-film transistors, and CIGS (CZTS) thin-film solar cells.

Professor Liu has authored or co-authored over 75 journal papers. He received the Outstanding Young Electrical Engineer Award of the Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering in 2016, the Young Scholar Award of Taiwan Vacuum Society in 2017, and Research Excellence Award of Yuan Ze University in 2016. Professor Liu is also an Honorary Member of the Phi Tau Phi Society.
