Well Cousin Frona [Sophronia Troupe] I will write you a few lines to let you know that I am alive yet. I am well fat and sassy again. But I have so much work to do that I hardly know what to do first. The carpenters will get my barn done this week I guess. They keep me about all the time waiting on them but I am thankful that they are about done.
Well Frona [Sophronia Troupe], I wrote a letter to you and one to our girl about two weeks ago, but received no answer to either of them. I do not know why but I hope you will answer this right away. I thought maybe you was coming out before long. Mother [Susannah Stahl Hutchins] wanted to know whether you was coming or not. She has no girl now except Aunt Mag and she is about as good as none. I wish you would come for I would like to see you. I think I could tell you some big stories. And don’t forget to bring our girl along when you come and this fall I will go along with you to Ohio or to Michigan to see the young doctor. Do write and tell me when you are coming and find out what is wrong with our girl and tell me. Well I don’t know what Mother [Susannah Stahl Hutchins] wrote. Maybe I have wrote the same that she did. I had not time to read it for I must go to work. I have been sawing wood. I have about two hundred cord of wood sawed now. I must quit for this time.
Write soon or sooner
J. M. H. [Jonas Michael Hutchins]
