My Dear Cousin,
I received your kind and interesting letter last night and you may bet, I was a glad chicken to get a letter from you again. I was glad to know that you were all well and enjoying life. We are all well at this time. You know I am always glad to get letters and all. I am away from home. I am so very glad to get a letter now while I am away. You will see that I am not at home. I am visiting at Sister Miranda’s now. I have been here six weeks ago last Saturday. I am enjoying myself very well since here, and I like the country so well here. I only wish I need not go back to that old Frog Pond – Van Wert again. But I expect I must. I am afraid the folks here will get tired of me pretty soon and send me home. They will soon put on the old dishes for me and then I will take the hint and start for old Van Wert again. I will start for home on the 20th of this month and then I will not be at home until the 23rd as I will stop to see Henry where he is teaching. I heard from him about two weeks ago. They were all well at home then.
Well cousin, I only wish you were out here with me to help one eat the good things now. I get more than I can eat, come and help me. You wanted to know how far Troupe’s boys live from Upper Sandusky and which way. Henry lives between four and five miles south east of Upper Sandusky. Daniel Bender also lives out here and they live about a mile and a half from Henry’s. That is a little farther south. Dan said you should come and that if you would write, he would meet you at the train or in town. Come yet while I am here if you can. I would like to see you and have a chat with you. I was glad to hear that you were going to visit us next fall, but sorry to hear you were going away so far. But hope you will enjoy yourself when you do go. Don’t go unless you come to see us.
Well Dan’s and myself are at cousin Levi Troupes today visiting and while here I thought I would write you a letter and put it in the office here as he is living in Little Sandusky. Old Uncle Sam Troupe was out here week before last but only stayed a few days. I did not get to see him while he was here.
We are having splendid sleighing out here now. The snow fell last week one night and day. It was about thirteen inches deep. Now you see if I could catch a fellow out here, I could go sleighing now. Don’t you think that would be nice. But you see, I can’t catch any. I guess they all think I am a bad egg. Do you think I am?
Well, your wrote about your Sister’s man. I didn not know that she was married. Please write and tell me when she was married in your next letter. Tell Fronia [Sophronia Troupe] to come to see me too, bring her along when you come to Van Wert. Allen Weisman was at home when I came away but had intended to go back to Indiana again in a few weeks to stay this winter.
Cousin Levi says if you come in from Fostoria to Fowler Station that is two miles from Little Sandusky, then you can come to where he lives and then come to see him.
Please write soon and don’t forget to write to me soon again – if you write to
Daniel Bender direct to

If you want to meet Dan come to Upper Sandusky
