Dear Friend, August 24, 1875
It is with pleasure that I will try to inform you that your humble communication of July the 29th has been received which found me well and for the rest I can’t tell anything about for. I have not seen any of my folks for about 5 weeks. For I have been working to George Kimmels ever since the 20th of last March. You wanted to know when I had seen Eliza {Lydia Ann Eliza Hutchins}. I seen her last Sunday. I was to Sunday School and Singing to the Church. John Snider keeps singing there.
Well Frona, {Sophronia Troupe} I seen your brother but did not get acquainted with him. Eliza {Lydia Ann Eliza Hutchins} is working to Story’s. She said I should tell you that she was agoing to cut you out, but don’t you let her. Well, Manerva Milborn told me that her and (unreadable) is agoing to start out there next Thursday and hope you and Manerva will enjoy yourselves together. I wish that I could be there with you – you said you had four quilts to quilt this fall. I think you must think of getting married soon. I am trying to piece some quilts this fall. I wish you was here to go with me to the Fair in Waterloo – this fall.
Well Fronia, {Sophronia Troupe} how does them Bairs get along that we was agoin to go for? I have not heard from Simon since the sale. I wish you would come out here and we could get work together. You said that you had not enjoyed yourself since you left here. I have not either. I was to town the fifth of July – that is all the day that I have spent since I have worked here. Well Old Jo Kidle has not found himself a wife yet – it is too bad that he can’t find one. Remember the night of the sale when Alo Brient and Howard Squires was there? I never told you what time it was when I got home that night. It was after 2 o’clock in the morning. Well, it is bed time so I must close for this time. I have not had my pictures taken yet for I have not been to town yet, but I think I will have them taken. Til I get an answer for this and I will send you one. I have said all that I can think of for this time. So write soon.
Bound is the ring that has no end, so is my love to you my Friend.
