Miss Sophronia Troupe, June 8, 1874
I got your letter a few days ago. It found wide awake and full of fleas and ready to do nothing.
I commenced to cut wheat today, it is very hot. We finished making hay, done plowing corn. As soon as you get this you better write Lizzie {Sarah Elizabeth Troupe} a letter. I did not give her that one. You need not tell her that you wrote one to her before, because I told her that you did not write to her. I give her those patches. Pop {John Troupe} talks of coming out there this fall. Him and Lizzie and (I guess B) “B” is {Rebecca Troupe} (Step-Mother)
I do not know when I will come out there. I don not think that Pop {John Troupe} will come out there until after corn is put away with. I have not time to write much so I will close.
Write soon
