Dear Sister,
I will now try and answer your letter which I received sometime ago but have neglected to answer until now. I have a little time to spare and so I thought I would write to you.
I was at home last Sunday. Folks were all well and every thing is all right – crops look good and are doing finely – had most of the corn cultivated once – wheat looks very good.
I am not going home again until two weeks from today to spend the 4th.
The Methodist had camp meeting at Lansing last week. The (unreadable) had a picnic here at the college last Saturday and are having one today – And then will be a Sunday School picnic next Saturday and one in a week from next Saturday – this is quite a place for picnics.
Last Saturday some of the boys stole some of the grub that the (unreadable) brought . They got quite mad at the boys but they could not find out who did it.
I heard that Francis was married – who did he marry and when was he married – I have thought that Wesley would have got married before Francis. But perhaps he could not find any one to suit him.
Well, I have written about all the news – only T. M. (unreadable) is building a Brick Store in Dimondale. Improve the looks of the place.
When do you think of coming out here – I do not know whether Pop [John Troupe] is going to Ohio or not this fall – I do not know when I will come as I think some of going here to College again next summer.
Hoping to hear from you soon. I remain as ever yours, Amos Troupe
Direct to Agril College – Lansing
I intend to teach school again next winter and so I will not get to (unreadable) come home soon. If I go to College again next summer. Try and come out this summer or fall some time if you can.
Write soon.
