Miss Sophronia Troupe
Dear Sister,
I received a letter from you last harvest and have not answered it yet. I thought I had answered it until yesterday. I was looking over my letters and I seen then that I had not answered it. But never the less, not with standing, I will write so much more that it will make it up.
I was very glad to get that picture. I think it looks very natural.
Well it snowed last night and it storms today very much. We haven’t had any sleighing of any account yet.
Our school commenced three weeks ago today. I did not go the first week. I was at school this forenoon.
D.G. Carpenter is the teacher.
We sowed nine acres of wheat this fall. We are a going to plant about eight acres of Timothy and clover sowed, that we are a going to cut next year. We had one hundred and nineteen bushels of wheat.
Well about that picture of yours. I suppose you want my picture in return but I have not got it. I will be out there between now and next fall and then I will get it taken.
We have two fattening hogs we have killed and have two more to kill and eleven other hogs, and one cow- one sheep – one yoke of oxen and one yoke of calves and one cat and about thirty chickens.
Well, I must come to a close for this time. I hope you will not be so neglecting about writing as I was. Write soon.
