We would like to wish you a Happy New Year, may this year bring fruitful activities and collaborations among us in NOBIM! In this first newsletter for the year 2026, we would like to recap on what we have done in 2025, as well as what we will expect in the coming year.
We held NOBIM 2025 Conference back in November in NTNU Gjøvik Campus. Two very engaging and important keynote talks were given, as well as 13 regular presentations.
The Best Student Paper was awarded to Johan Mylius-Kroken, PhD student from the UiT The Arctic University of Norway, for his talk titled "Can a convex partition caused by a CPWL neural network be used for density estimation?" Congratulations!
One of the best things about NOBIM conferences that we continue upholding is that it is a fantastic venue for friendly networking. It’s a particularly welcoming space for students to receive constructive feedback and begin growing a supportive community for their future careers.
That being said, we hope to see old and new faces in the next NOBIM conference in 2027.
On November 25th 2025, the student association Linjeforening KI at UiT The Arctic University of Norway welcoming Robert Jenssen from Visual Intelligence, to the research community, ongoing projects and opportunities for students who want to get involved in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
A total of 18 students participated, and many expressed that the event provided increased insight into how they can take part in the research community and build bridges between academia and industry.
In the 2026, NOBIM will continue to support such student events. Be in touch with the Board styret@nobim.no to inquire further.
NOBIM General Assembly meeting for 2026 will happen in March. If you are already a member, you will receive an invitation to attend approximately a month prior to the meeting.
The Scandinavian Conference on Image Analysis (SCIA) returns to Norway in 2027! NTNU Gjøvik Campus will host the conference. More information will be provided as they come.
We would like to feature more research articles performed by NOBIM members. Please do get in touch with us at styret@nobim.no should you want your research to be featured.
