Art has always played a massive role in my life. There is very little that my art and identity as an artist does not impact, it has truly been an inseparable part of my person for as long as I’ve existed. I began “seriously” drawing at around six, and by seven I had a little black sketchbook that became an extension of my person- my Little Black Book. To this day you’ll still see one with me. I always knew I would end up pursuing something in the arts, though it wasn’t until I got a bit older that I decided what path to take. It was my senior year of high school that I decided I wanted to become an art teacher. While attending college I began teaching as an after school art teacher through Young Rembrandts, and since then I have received my Bachelors of Fine Arts and my Art Education Degree with the intention of becoming a full-time elementary art teacher. My end goal is to attain my Masters and become an art therapist in adolescent behavioral health hospitals and children’s psychiatric residential facilities, and I find more motivation to keep going every day.
Art has provided me with so much. Through art I have found love and belonging, it was through art I found my voice. If I do nothing else with my time on this Earth, I want to positively impact the children I work with and pass on the passion I have for art.
