The St. Olaf CURI program provides opportunities for St. Olaf students from all academic disciplines to gain an in-depth understanding of a particular subject through working closely with a St. Olaf faculty member in a research framework.

The Center for Interdisciplinary Research (CIR) brings together undergraduate statistics students supervised by a Statistics and Data Science (SDS) faculty member and a domain experts from other disciplines to share in the excitement and challenge of working across the traditional academic boundaries to collaborate on research.
The ERF program is designed to provide a hands-on research experience where you would work closely with an expert in their field. Those selected will have the opportunity to learn how to collect, clean, and analyze data, explore scholarly literature, and join the ongoing scholarly conversation on a range of topics. In addition to working on an individual project with a faculty advisor, the Economics Research Fellows will meet monthly as a scholarly community to discuss their ongoing research and receive guidance on issues relating to career choice, graduate school, empirical methods etc.
I am happy to write letter's of recommendation for students who have earned at least an A- in one (or more) of my classes, and/or have worked with me as a research assistant. St. Olaf College requires students submit a "FERPA Student Waiver for Reference Request" form, so please take the time to do so.
If you want me to write a letter for PhD programs, please schedule a meeting with me at the beginning of the academic year in which you will be applying so that we can talk about which programs you will be applying to. Knowing your research interests and which programs you plan on applying to will help me write the strongest letter possible.
If you want me to write a letter for masters programs, fellowships, or any other academic programs, please schedule an in-person meeting at least 4 weeks before the submission deadline. Providing an updated resume/CV, along with any other application materials you are submitting, will allow me to write the strongest letter possible.
If you wish to list me as a reference for job applications, please reach out with an updated resume/CV. It will be helpful to talk about what sorts of jobs you are interested in and any skills or experiences you would like me to highlight if contacted.
