Description: Appeal the ARC recommendations for the new construction of a 2,200 SF two-story addition to a Contributing rated, one-story, single-family residence.
Previous ARC Recommendations:
08/20/25: The ARC voted to defer your application for additional review. The ARC agreed that:
The camelback addition should be two rooms back from the front exterior wall of the building.
The new windows on the addition should match the size and style of the windows on the side elevation closest to the front wall.
The new windows on the upper floor addition should have some relationship to the existing windows below.
The exterior wall at the laundry should align with the wall preceding it.
All elevations should match what is drawn in plan.
05/21/25: The ARC voted to defer your application for additional review. The ARC agreed that:
The camelback should be the width of the original building.
Camelback should start two interior rooms back from the front wall of the building.
Eye level perspectives should be provided at the next meeting.
Bring in side addition to lower its presence.
The roof form at the side addition should be lower.
The windows on the addition should take a cue from the original building.
The detailing on the side addition should be more delicate.
04/22/25: The ARC voted to defer your application for additional review. The ARC agreed that:
The side addition overwhelms the historic portion of the building.
A true camelback two rooms back may be able to accommodate the required program.
02/18/25: The ARC voted to defer your application for additional review. The ARC agreed that:
The side addition is too large and too prominent.
A camelback with a small side addition is the preferred solution.
If a rear side addition is proposed it should be far enough back that it doesn’t obscure the side bump out.
