Nikki is currently completing her PhD at Carnegie Mellon University in Engineering and Public Policy and is a Fulbright Fellow. She completed her MS at CU Boulder in Civil Systems Engineering and then backpacked through South America for a year with her husband. At CMU, she studies the impact of infrastructure systems on aspects of equity in low-income areas. Specifically, she looks at how infrastructure can be used as a social sensor to help identify marginalized groups who might lack access to resources. She works in the YK Delta in Alaska and Kigali, Rwanda. Prior to returning to school for her PhD, she worked as a consultant for the World Bank and other research analytic firms.Â
