Lisa Garbrecht
Lisa Garbrecht is the Director of STEM Evaluation Services for the Expanding Pathways in Computing (EPIC) unit at the University of Texas at Austin Texas Advanced Computing Center. Growing up in Arizona, Lisa earned her bachelors in journalism and masters in education from Northern Arizona University and her doctorate in educational psychology from Arizona State University. She was faculty at Arizona State University and the University of California, Irvine. Lisa is also a wife and mother of two kids, who are now awesome adults. When not working, she enjoys walking her dog, traveling, and country music.
Lisa’s research interests include using culturally responsive evaluation methods to assess equity and increase underrepresented students’ access to and participation in K-20 computing and STEM education and careers. For the past 25 years, she has conducted research and evaluation on a wide range of projects with diverse communities across the country. Currently she designs and directs the evaluations of several national, statewide, and local programs designed to broaden participation in STEM education and workforce.
