My name is Navid Mohammad Mirzaei, and I am a Research Assistant Professor at the Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center (VMASC) at Old Dominion University. Before joining VMASC, I served as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health from 2023 to 2026 and as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 2020 to 2023. I earned my Ph.D. from the University of Delaware in 2020 under the supervision of Dr. Pak-Wing Fok.

I am also interested in the mechanics of growing biological tissues triggered by cellular and molecular interactions within disease microenvironments such as atherosclerosis and cancer.
I am proficient in Matlab, Python, FEniCS/DOLFIN, R, C/C++, GMSH, Paraview, and Mathematica. I am currently learning Physics Informed Neural Network (PINN), Julia, CompuCell3D, and Tellurium/SBML.
