Parkhill Tennis Club
In 1908, the Parkhill Tennis Club was formed and they built two grass courts on the property where the medical centre now stands. A few years later, the courts were converted to clay and two more courts were added. At the end of the 1940 season, the courts were abandoned and the club disbanded for the duration of WW2, and never reorganized. The land was later sold and used as a parking lot for Russell Motor Sales.
Dr. William Scrimgeour, a WW2 Vet, graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1950. After completing his internship and practicing in Tweed, ON, he moved to Parkhill and bought the practice, office and house of Dr. Mooney on Hastings Street.
After working out of his home for many years, he built his new office on this site in the mid 1960s.
Dr. Scrimgeour sold his practice to Dr. William Thorpe in 1987, but continued to work with him until his retirement in 2001.
In 2006, an addition was added to the building, doubling the size.
