Foodland
Before Foodland, this lot was a part of Hawkey Carriage Works. The building that stood here was the original Parkhill Episcopal Methodist church, which was sold to and moved here by Mr. Hawkey in 1884 to be used as a show room.
In 1954, N. Grant Pollock purchased the then vacant lot and built an I.G.A. Foodliner, which would later become Foodland. Pollock retired in 1974, and sold the business to John Porter.
In 1981, John and Janet Bender, who owned the Foodland in Ailsa Craig, purchased the Parkhill location and completed renovations in 1984.
After over 30 years at the business, the Bender’s sold the store to Mike and Sara Cronyn in June 2015.
The Cronyn's sold the business back to Sobeys in June 2024, with Sean Caughey managing the store.
