This house was built by Hugh McLachlan, a cattle drover, after a fire in 1895 burned the store that once stood in this location.
The round porch was used as a cutter and buggy showroom for a time for Johnson Alexander's Carriage Works.
Annie McLachlan, a long time teacher at the Ailsa Craig Continuation School, was raised in this house.
