At a bridge party in 1940, a group of eight women decided to form the Victory Boosters. Their purpose was to help out in various ways for the war and the soldiers overseas. They made socks, sweaters, and quilts for the soldiers as well as sewing for the Red Cross. They held dances to raise funds to send gifts overseas, and when the war was over, they placed an honour roll in the Town Hall.
The Victory Boosters continued this work after the war, sponsoring a foreign child and donating money to organizations in need. In the 1950’s, they sold hot dogs at the booth at the ball diamond to make money for these projects.
The Victory Boosters disbanded in the early 1990s, their mission having been completed.
The Ailsa Craig Recreation Center was built in 1991.
