Our Story

New Jersey Youth Beyond Plastics was founded in 2022 by 3 students as a New Jersey Local Group under the National Beyond Plastics organization. The founders took sets of Training under Judith Enck to understand their goal and their purpose as a youth-led group. NJYBP works on grassroots plastics projects ranging from plastic policy work to promoting education. As a group, we work to promote environmental stewardship through tangible projects as well as educate other youth in NJ. Shirin Sood

Co-Founder

I'm Shirin Sood and I am one of the NJYBP Co-founders and current President! I am passionate about the interconnects between Climate Change and Environmental Justice, especially within air quality and microplastics. I look forward to working with the team and all the projects!

Tafara Jairosi

Secretary

Hello! My name is Tafara Jairosi and I am the secretary of NJYBP! I joined NJYBP out of a passion and interest in being a part of the fight against climate change and environmental injustices!

Josephine Lee

Content Manager

I'm Josephine Lee, and I currently handle the social media accounts of NJYBP! I have always been interested in the environment and climate justice, so I joined NJYBP to be more connected with other youth in New Jersey with similar interests as me!
