I'm also a co-director of the Omron Lab in the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology at Northern Illinois University. Our students do not limit their engineering knowledge to a single field. Since the Omron Robotics and Mechatronics Lab has been created through financial and equipment donations from Omron in 2013, this lab has provided endless opportunities for students in our engineering departments allowing them to explore the areas of design, building, control, and vision in the robotics and mechatronics field.
Students from different departments gravitate toward this open space where they learn advanced concepts and gain extensive experience through taking part in advanced robotics/mechatronics classes, collaborating on their capstone senior design projects, and getting involved in cutting-edge research.
