I needed something to keep me moving after graduating college. I quickly found cycling and then specifically Mountain biking! There is just something about riding in the woods that brings an endless smile to my face and helps make everything else seem manageable. My most memorable week of riding was in Colorado when I backed the Leadville 100 race with the Break Epic. It was about 350 miles and over 50,000 ft of elevation. I saw the most amazing views and endured the most pain of my life. But I would do it all over again in a second!
I love introducing new riders to mountain biking and then to some of the best riding in the northeast.
Driving distance, I'd head to Elm Ridge, give me a destination vacation and I'm headed to Betonville Arkansas! Look it up!
Have you ever had to create one of those "when I grow up" projects? I did one in 3rd grade, and wanted to become a professional bike racer. Well, I'm a teacher, not a pro cyclist, but it has always been an important aspect of my life. During the Covid shutdown, I started riding a bit more with my family, and while they got really fast, I just tried my best to hang on. My background in working with middle and high school kids, and my love of the outdoors and riding bikes has put me in a position to take on the role of head coach for the Mountain Goats.
I see my role with our team as a leader who can provide structure, support, and opportunity for young riders. It is my goal to work with each individual rider to provide the best experience for YOU, knowing that we all come to this sport with different backgrounds, and different (and flexible) personal goals.
My favorite spots to hit the trails include Rush Pond, KP, and Kingdom Trails.
