Apples
Galarina - very crisp texture, high sugar and low acid. A cross between Gala and Florina from Angers, France. Superior flavor and firmness to either of its parents.
Winecrisp - deep-red dessert apple, sweet, juicy, firm with tangy notes of citrus and spice. The skin has a parchment-like “matte-finish”. Can be stored for over 6 months. Developed by the Purdue, Rutgers, and Illinois Universities.
Crimson Topaz - crisp, cream-coloured flesh, with a distinctive spicy flavor. It’s slow to brown (oxidize) when cut, which makes it a great salad apple. A cross between two Czech variety apples, the Vanda and Rubin.
Goldrush - beautiful greenish yellow blushed bronze, color deepens in storage. Flesh is hard, very crisp, and breaking, with an intense and memorable spiced flavor. More tart at harvest, but mellows in storage. Complex flavor profile makes it wonderful for cider or fresh eating. Keeps well and its flavors continue to evolve in fridge storage for 6 months or more. GoldRush was developed by Purdue, Rutgers and Illinois universities.
Pixie Crunch - deep red jewel with yellowish flesh that is sweet, rich, and spicy with texture that rivals or beats honeycrisp. Good snack size. Having Golden Delicious and Rome Beauty in its ancestry, Pixie Crunch was bred by Purdue, Rutgers, and Illinois Universities for scab-resistance.
Enterprise - glossy red apple, skin is quite thick and the apple is better served peeled. Flesh is creamy, firm, and crisp with a flavor similar to Idared. Parentage includes McIntosh, Golden Delicious, and the crabapple Malus floribunda, which imparts scab-resistance.
Sundance - pale yellow apple with a pretty pink blush. Flesh is medium to coarse grained and firm and crisp. Flavor is spicy, full, and rich, and mellows in storage. Cross between Golden Delicious and 1050 NJ 1, through which it counts Winter Banana, McIntosh, Rome, and Malus floribunda as ancestors.
