About Us

Why was Nishica Farm started?  

A large part of the San Francisco Bay Area and areas around were covered with orchards.  With the development of Silicon Valley, and the need for housing, these have disappeared. 
Nishica Farm's mission is to bring back a local orchard and the joy of eating fresh fruit, picked right from the tree. 

We want to build an organic orchard with fruit with the best flavor.  And we want to use scab resistant varieties so that unlike other organic orchards, we will not have to use sulfur sprays. This ensures the best tasting fruit without impacting the farmers, the earth and the consumer. 

Timeline  - When did the farm start?

 The farm work started in 2019 by first building better soil using cover crops and the first trees were planted in 2021.    Our first small harvest was ready in fall 2023. 

What else do you do besides the orchard?

Using our farming expertise, we have launched a nursery and are growing strong healthy starter plants of vegetables and flowers. 

Nishica Farm also grows lavender and had recently planted persimmons! 

We also do a small amount of vegetables - tomatoes, onions, peppers and some flowers - sunflowers and marigold.
