SPRING 2026 QUALIFIERS ON SATURDAY, MARCH 28TH
In Northside ISD’s Esports Explorers after school clubs, students will play Minecraft Education challenges, learn how to work with a team, build healthy gaming habits, and discover how to be good digital citizens!
Which grade levels are allowed to play?
Minecraft Education is rated E10+ by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) and as such, only 5th Grade students at NISD elementary schools will be allowed to participate in Esports Explorers activities.
Which game mode or map will students play?
In Fall 2024, your campus and sponsors will choose to either participate in Creative Club or Adventure Club.
In Creative Club, students will play together in a number of different activities and have the opportunity to learn valuable skills related to cooperation, communication and, of course, creativity!
In Adventure Club, teams of four students from each campus will play in a battle-royale game called Bed Wars, and compete with other NISD schools!
We’ll go over the details of both modes of play in the next couple of sections!
In Creative Club, teachers will guide their students through a number of activities and lessons created and approved by the Minecraft Education team at Microsoft that challenges students to flex their creative muscles, teaches them to work together as a team, and provides them with real world connections through educational lessons!
Here’s a list of a few great Minecraft Education game modes and lessons to get you started:
This method of play is for schools and students who want to explore the world of Minecraft Education at their own pace, learn the basic of play and collaboration, and build a classroom community with the fellow players.
If you’re new to Minecraft Education, and looking for a low-stakes, fun experience for you and your students, Creative Club is the place for you!
In Adventure Club, students will compete in teams of four in a mode known as Bed Wars - a mini game where players try to defeat their enemies by breaking their beds!
Student teams must gather resources, create defensive structures, and fight against each other to become the last team standing.
Players must navigate islands in the sky, and are able to purchase items and upgrade perks in exchange for minerals, which can be obtained from their home base or other islands.
If a team’s bed is broken, they will be eliminated from the game, making it crucial to play defensively as well.
The team that is able to defend their bed the longest, and break all the other enemy teams’ beds will be declared the winner!
If you have some experience with Minecraft, and are looking for a chance to guide your students to play in a more competitive environment, Adventure Club is for you!
