I currently serve as Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Head of the Humanities Department at Greenville Technical College.
I have also taught at the University of South Carolina-Columbia, South Piedmont Community College, Furman University, and the University of South Carolina's Palmetto College.
My first task as a teacher is to answer the question, “Why should anybody care about philosophy?” I emphasize that philosophy takes up the most basic questions of the human experience: "What should I do?" "How do I know?" "What exists?" These are questions which matter not only to professional philosophers but also to nurses, artists, lawyers, chemists, and engineers—to anyone thinking through who they are, how they should live, and how they may effectively participate in a diverse, complex society.

“LONG LIVE SASSER!!! The most entertaining teacher I've had in a while.”
“The instructor was very enthusiastic about the material & made learning the information fun. He definitely encouraged class participation from every student & politely/professionally directed other students to participate when a few of the students continually dominated the discussions.”
“Keep Dr. Nathan Sasser on as a Philosophy Professor. His insight, attention, patience, knowledge, and passion contribute to an encouraging and comfortable work environment.”
“This class is a lot more difficult than I originally had thought, but Dr. Sasser makes it fun and enjoyable, while also doing a great job at teaching the material.”
“Dr. Sasser shows clear passion for what he is teaching. The material he covers is truly what he enjoys reading, learning, and sharing with others. His ability to make each student feel welcomed in a discussion while maintaining a meaningful conversation is impressive. He also uses drawings and models to describe concepts so that every student can conceptualize and understand them.”
