How Do We Qualify?

NIRSA Soccer Regional Tournaments are invitational events - they are not generally open for registration. Qualifying teams receive are invited by NIRSA Staff on the last Sunday of the regular season as League/Conference Standings must be finalized before tournament bids are sent out. Each qualifying team must accept its bid before pools are aligned and sent out. Then games are played the following Friday-Sunday - it's a tight turnaround!

Each NIRSA Region is allotted 6 bids to the National Championships (3 men, 3 women).

Below, you can find general information regarding the qualifying structure for each tournament.

*IMPORTANT* This is not the end-all-be-all bid structure and is subject to change given head-to-head results, team/league disciplinary actions, and other circumstances.

At-Large Bids are determined by a combination of many things, largely dependent on results in head-to-head and out-of-conference games. In many cases, there are no head-to-head results to base a decision by. Therefore, results against quality opponents (other Regional qualifiers) and goal differential are the main determinants.
