GAME INFORMATION/FORMAT
Qualifying rounds consist of pool play with teams advancing to elimination/bid play. Men's teams will be guaranteed 2 games. Women's teams will be guaranteed 3 games.
Important Notes:
It is expected that all teams be ready to play on Friday, October 31st at 4pm.
Schedule change requests will be considered on a case by case basis but will NOT be guaranteed.Â
Cancellations by teams may affect the tournament, may result in byes and may affect the number of games each team participates in. Teams that cancel may be barred from future NIRSA Championship Series events.

HOW: See below to determine qualification of men's and women's teams. Our National Championships Automatic Bid Process will follow this plan:
Men
Pool A and Pool B will play for 1 National Bid.Â
Top 2 teams in each pool will advance to Bid Semifinals.Â
Winners of the semifinals will play for 1 National Bid.
Pool C and Pool D will play for 1 National Bid.Â
Top 2 teams in each pool will advance to Bid Semifinals.Â
Winners of the semifinals will play for 1 National Bid.
Women
Top 2 teams in Pool A and Pool B will advance to National Bid Games
A1 v. B2 will play for 1 National Bid
B1 v. A2 will play for 1 National Bid

Each team must submit the REGIONAL ENTRY FORM VIA EMAIL TO mhl017@shsu.edu by Wednesday, October 29 at 12pm noon!

Must receive approval/confirmation from Registrar's Office and Sport Club Office!
Determines enrollment eligibility
Each player must add themselves to their team by registering on IMLeagues and completing the NIRSA Code of Conduct, NIRSA Accident Waiver and Release of Liability Form for NIRSA playing eligibility.
All players due on IMLeagues rosters by Wednesday, October 29 at 12pm NOON!
NOTE: Players may not show on a roster immediately, as staff must verify the NIRSA playing eligibility manually.
On Friday, October 31st between 2-4pm, all teams must send a representative to check-in and confirm team+player registration. A final roster certification will be performed at mandatory check-in by tournament staff as it relates to NIRSA eligibility for players with NCAA experience and/or 4+ years of collegiate participation. This info will be submitted via IMLeagues registration and the Player Certification Form, detailed above.
At least fifteen minutes prior to the start of each scheduled game, the Field Marshal will check the teams in for play. Each player must have a physical government or university picture ID that must match to the team’s player roster. Digital IDs are NOT permitted to be used. A team who fails to properly check in with the Field Marshal will forfeit that game.
Tournament play will be governed by NCAA Rules as modified according to NIRSA National Soccer Championships Rules of Play (2025 Rules)

40-minute halves
7 minute halftime pool play; 10 minute half time for Bid Semifinals and Finals
Home team in light jerseys
Pool Play Tie = Draw. Elimination Play Tie = Two-10 minute extra tie periods, then kicks from the mark.
Format subject to change due to weather, teams dropping out, etc.
Substitution rules
Allowed during goal kicks (by either team), for an injured player (one for one), for a yellow card (one for one) although not mandatory, and after a goal has been scored
Initiated by team in possession
Wait at half-way line
Sideline/Subs in colored jersey/vest to distinguish from field players

2 coach & 1 athletic trainer maximum
NOTE: All players/teams must follow NIRSA eligibility guidelines in order to be eligible to play in the regional tournament.
Teams will be awarded points in Pool Play on the following basis:
Three (3) points for each Win
One (1) points for each Tie
Zero (0) points for each Loss
In the event of a tie in points at the end of pool play, the team(s) to advance will be determined as follows:
The winner in head to head competition.
High point differential (goals scored minus goals allowed) - max of 5 per match.
Most goals for.
Fewest goals against.
Most total wins.
Most shutouts.
In a tie breaking scenario involving more than 2 teams, the tiebreaker procedure will begin. Once one team is identified as different and both remaining teams are still tied, the tie breaker procedure is restarted to identify the remaining order. If a tie still exists after steps 1 through 6, the following procedure will be used for NCAA kicks from the mark.
In a two-way tie, NCAA kicks from the mark will be taken thirty (30) minutes prior to the scheduled start of the next match.
In a three-way tie, a three-way coin flip will be conducted. The two teams that tie in the coin flip will compete in NCAA kicks from the mark to eliminate one team prior to proceeding to NCAA kicks from the mark with the third team. The coin flip and time of the kicks will be determined at the fields.

HOTEL/LODGING INFORMATION TBA
The regional soccer tournament may be altered and or canceled in the event of inclement weather or poor field conditions. Games may be shortened, postponed or canceled. In the event of a tournament cancellation, bids will be awarded based upon the rankings.
