During her tenure as Principal & Secretary of Lady Doak College (LDC), Dr. Nirmala Jeyaraj initiated a number of innovative courses leading to the upgradation of degree programmes from undergraduate to masters and doctoral levels. She facilitated the effective linking of community service to academics introducing Service Learning in every discipline. She also internationalized the campus by initiating student and faculty exchange programs, on-campus study abroad programs, and hosting international conferences. Her passion for quality education resulted in LDC being accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). LDC was twice awarded the highest grade (Five Star and A) and ISO certified. She continues to serve as an assessor for NAAC. Her contribution to developing the infrastructure was noteworthy - building classrooms, laboratories, hostels, campus networking with intra and internet facility, and improving the greening of the campus.
