This is a horror LARP. You may experience strong emotions during the weekend and this may impact you. We want to run a safe LARP where everyone comes out of it a stronger person than they went in, and your emotional (and physical) safety are the refs' top priorities.
We will have an OC room on site that is intended for taking quiet breaks in. (It will also be a kit store.) Players can visit the quiet room at any time if they feel they would like a break from the LARP.
There will be a pre-game brief covering emotional safety, particularly aimed at players who are newer to horror LARP. There will also be a debrief for everyone on the Sunday morning.
We are allowing players to submit restricted themes for this LARP. Plot involving restricted themes will be clearly marked as such so that players who do not want to engage with that theme can opt out. The current list of restricted themes is:
Selective violence towards specific groups or identities (note: racism is a banned theme)
Suicide and self-harm
Harm to children (note: miscarriage and neonatal death are banned themes)
Animal abuse
Serious illness
Homophobia, biphobia, transphobia
Consensual sexual contact (note: sexual assault is a banned theme)
Note: if you have submitted a request for a restricted theme but it is not on this list, please assume that the refs have already decided they will not be running any plot involving that theme, and it has been deemed sufficiently niche as to probably not arise in character backgrounds (we will handle things individually in the unlikely event that it does). This does not imply that themes currently on the list definitely will have plot involving them, though!
This game will not feature
racism
miscariage or neonatal death
sexual assault
in any of its characters or plots. The refteam have decided that they are not comfortable working with these themes in the context of this LARP.
If you have specific questions about emotional safety (or anything else) that you would like an answer to before deciding whether to book, please contact the refteam at stonewardstorytelling *at* gmail.com.
