The Quilts of Valor Foundation Upstate South Carolina is part of a national foundation whose mission statement is, "To cover those service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor".
South Carolina has let the nation over the last seven years, having presented in 2017 over 2400 Quilts of Balor to active service members and veterans. Locally, in 2017, the Upstate QOV awarded just under 600 quilts.
Thank you to everyone for their support in providing quilts for the family members at home dedications.
When move in day arrives and the family is settled our quilts become part of that “home” feeling instead of just being a place to live/stay. It is a “quilty hug” every time they wrap up or cover up to get warm. Members who are able to attend dedications get to see the smiles and excitement. To those who are unable to attend dedications, know that your efforts are appreciated more than you may realize. THANK YOU again for all that you do to support this worthy endeavor.
Habitat Quilt donations for 2023 were 62 quilts. Donations for 2024 were 29 quilts. Our grand total count is 899. Your continuing support makes this philanthropy possible.
As you may recall St. Clare’s Home was the recipient of the money we raised last year with the opportunity quilt. Yvonne Stiefel and I have reached out to the director offering quilts and she said they would love to have 10 baby quilts 48 inches square. If you would like to participate please E-mail me and let us know. We would love to gift these ladies gorgeous quilts for their little ones.
Visit https://stclareshomesc.org/ to learn more about this amazing organization and their work with pregnant women. Once we have the quilts finished there will be an opportunity to bring them to the Home, and meet some of the women that are living there. Joanna.mclucas@gmail.com
