On August 17, five members of the Nimble Thimbles Quilt Guild delivered 30 Quilts to St. Clare’s. We were given a tour of the facility by Valerie Baronkin, the executive director. There are currently seven mothers in the Greenville home, two of whom have already given birth. Mom's and babies are allowed to stay at the home for up to a year after birth and moms are given classes in finance, cooking and are supported while they attend classes to learn a career.
We were so glad to be able to visit and drop off the Quilt donations for these deserving young women. Thank you to everyone who participated in this project.
The pictures include some of the donated quilts with Valerie Baronkin, the playground and garden in the back of the property, the small chapel, an image of Saint Clare.
Denise Johnson
Well, I'm having a hard time believing that fall is upon us and before we know it another year will appear on the calendar. We have much to get accomplished in the next few months.
We talked about new members of the board who will be nominated , please really consider stepping up to help fill the two important spots. I'd never be able to be the secretary. I can't even read my own writing half of the time, but I'd use a tape recorder and that might be what could work for you. Newsletter Editor is another important job. I'm not sure what I could do with that either. I'm not great on the computer, as you can tell. I'm sure many of you have your hidden talents and perhaps it's time to shine. So when the committe calls have a positive, I can do it answer and we will work as a team as always to get the job done.
I'm working very hard on my President's Challenge Quilt. I struggle with no pattern to follow so I'm winging it and hope to honor my herritage and love of this country with my design.
Your fearless leader,
Denise Johnson
