On August 17, five members of the Nimble Thimbles Quilt Guild delivered 30 Quilts to St. Clare’s. We were given a tour of the facility by Valerie Baronkin, the executive director. There are currently seven mothers in the Greenville home, two of whom have already given birth. Mom's and babies are allowed to stay at the home for up to a year after birth and moms are given classes in finance, cooking and are supported while they attend classes to learn a career.
We were so glad to be able to visit and drop off the Quilt donations for these deserving young women. Thank you to everyone who participated in this project.
The pictures include some of the donated quilts with Valerie Baronkin, the playground and garden in the back of the property, the small chapel, an image of Saint Clare.

I really enjoyed the ice cream social. The Joy Center is a little small for all the tables but we made it work. We are in the Joy Center again for August then by September back to the gym.
Time is flying by and we have some items that will need to be put to the top of our agenda. The Mary Isabelle award is one and we need our nominations submitted. We will discuss what the Mary Isabelle Award is for and when it will be awarded.
Also we will be looking for a nomination committee. We have 2 positions that must be filled for next year. Secretary and Newsletter Rebecca and Tanya have done a fantastic job for 2 years and that is our term limits. So not only do we need the nomination committee, we also need to think about stepping up to the plate, raising a hand, jumping in with both feet. The good thing about volunteering for a board position is the satisfaction that you are an important part of carrying the guild to the nest year maybe 2. So think about being a go-getter.
I believe it is time also to start thinking about our Quilt Show in 2027. We will need a chairperson and a crew. The July meeting I made a comment about no I in TEAM but there is an I in VILLAGE. The Quilt Show needs a VILLAGE. So now I've put these 3 items on your radar as someone put them on my radar.
I'm truly having a great time serving as the president for this guild. I could not do it without all the support I get from all of you. I definitely have good days and bad days and I apologize if I look like I'm struggling sometimes. I just want you to know how much this guild and all of you have made me feel at home and make some friends in this new chapter of my/our lives.
Sincerely
Denise Johnson
