Thai Food Automation Project
Senior Design project with the goal of automating the production of thai food. The designed system would be able to stir food while cooking, deposit the food on a waiting plate and self clean.
Over the course of 4 months, we designed the full system and built the stirring mechanism, leaving the rest of the machine for another team to finish for their senior project. To stir the food we designed a lid with a planetary gear system connected to stirring paddles that would come down into the pan after food was placed into it. Initial designs used spokes but these were swapped for paddles to avoid food getting stuck and to better stir the food.
I designed the stirring mechanism and was responsible for mechanical analysis of the lifting mechanism to ensure sufficient power and that the support structure could hold the weight of the stirring mechanism.
