Roopa is a highly accomplished Bharathanatyam dancer and teacher. She received her training from some of the most renowned Gurus in the field, including Guru Bhanumathi, Smt Nirmala Madhava, and Sri K R S Prasanna. Roopa completed her Proficiency grade exam under the tutelage of Guru Bhanumati. She has performed extensively in solo and group shows, with her gurus. Currently, apart from advancing her training under Guru Sheela Chandrashekar and pursuing Nattuvanga lessons under Sri D V Prasanna Kumar, Roopa is pursuing a Masters Degree in Bharathanatyam.
Roopa founded the Nrityaarpana Dance Academy in West San Jose, where she imparts training in Bharathanatyam. The academy has gained a reputation as one of the premier institutions over the past 17 years. Roopa has worked extensively to train the younger generation, encouraging and nurturing their talent and interest in this intricate art form. Nrityaarpana students are trained in depth in both theoretical and practical aspects of Bharathanatyam, and have performed at numerous events receiving accolades and awards. Many of the students of Nrityaarpana have presented their Arangetrams and have been commended for their performance. Roopa’s solo and group choreographies, presented by her students, have been appreciated by the audience. Through Nrityaarpana, Roopa aims to help the rising generation imbibe, inculcate, and experience the joy of dance.
Roopa is an active volunteer who organizes several music and dance events and fundraisers in support of nonprofit organizations. She is a passionate and dedicated artist who is committed to sharing her love of Bharathanatyam with others.
