My name is Nicole Danielson, and I am a junior at San Marcos Senior High School. I am president of Enchante, the advanced women’s choir, as well HOSA, the Health Occupations Students of America club. I am also part of the water polo team, swim team and the Health Careers Academy. While I might consider myself a Santa Barbarian, I am originally an Idahoan. I moved here from Idaho Falls, Idaho when I was 11 years old. Going from a super small Idaho town to the urban California coast was definitely a process. While it may have been difficult at times, this part of my life has taught me to be my own independent person, regardless what anyone thinks.
Growing up, I disliked reading with a passion. I avoided it at all costs and even cut corners to pretend I was good at it! My teachers even wanted to place me into the “extra-help” classes. Long story short, with discipline and challenging support from my parents, I worked my way up from the bottom to average!
Years later, I've finally learned to appreciate literature and find my own little piece of reading and writing. As an aspiring health care worker, I’ve loved reading nonfiction medial memoirs! It was important to learn that you don’t have to hate reading, you just need to find what you enjoy! But of course, Mr. Koroshec has made it clear in English 110 that it is important to push our limits, and read what makes us uncomfortable. Throughout the class, this is exactly what we did. Because of this I can proudly say that reading and writing is a necessity! We must remember though, that reading is a conversation. Be open to controversy and argument. We need to be willing to offend one another, but then apologize, overcome and learn from it. I aim to write and teach and learn. I aim to progress my writing and my character. I might never be perfect, but I will always be getting better.
