My story
My story
My name is Nicolas Luciano and I am 23 years old living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have a degree in elementary education and a masters in leadership. There are two parts of me to know, the personal and professional side. Here you will get to learn a little more about me.
During my time at Wheeling Jesuit University, I have had several opportunities to expand and develop my teaching skills. As part of my undergrad, I student taught 2nd and 5th grade. I was able to manage a room of my own with a class size between 25-30 students. This was my first big opportunity to see how my future was going to look like. After graduating in May of 2020, I continued my education in getting a masters in leadership. Along with getting a masters, I took the opportunity to become a long term substitute for the Ohio County School District in Wheeling, West Virginia. During this school year, I constructed both in person and remote learning adapting to COVID protocols. I taught English to 24 students in the 6th grade and got exposure to team building and meeting with guardians, administrators and counselors. After returning home from getting my masters, I took on a new role at the Yishva School District in Squirrel Hill right outside Pittsburgh. Continuing English lesson plans, I also taught social studies and gym. This has given me the opportunity to try new courses and learn about the unique cultures of my students. I have my West Virginia teaching license and am continuing to get my Pennsylvania license. Each experience I have had in this career has lead me to be the educator I am today.
For my whole life, I have lived outside of Pittsburgh with my family. I have two supporting parents and an older brother that is two years older and a younger sister by five years. I am lucky to have both a brother and sister but added to that I have a Shit-zu dog named Milo. I attended Kiski Area high school and continued my education at Wheeling Jesuit University where I have attended for 5 years.
My interest and hobbies include baseball, golf, fishing, snowboarding, traveling, and coaching. I played baseball since I was a young child and played throughout college. For golf, I typically play around the Pittsburgh area but my dream is to golf at the Oakmont Country Club someday. In the winter, I enjoy snowboarding at Seven Springs and am up there as much as I can.
I grew up very much involved with sports, but fell most in love most with the sport of baseball. I have played baseball my entire life and continued to play in college. I played up until graduating from my masters at Wheeling Jesuit. Being on a sport teams, I learned how to play as a team player and how to rely on one another. The relationships I have built with my teammates has made me grown into the person I am today. Baseball has taught me how to work on a team and how to be a leader. I have applied these skills into my work life. Being with friends and family is a huge part of my life and I love being part of something greater than myself.
