Reily Township is working with the Coalition for a Healthy Community to upgrade our community center grounds. We have received donations from TriHealth, Butler Rural Electric, Oxford Community Foundation, and they will construct an ADA-compliant walking path.
The Reily High School Alumni Association is going to purchase benches which will allow walkers to rest along the walking trail.
Reily Township has received a community development block grant of $33,000 for a new concrete entrance and sidewalks to tie into the walking path. In all there will be over $100,000 of improvements without using any local tax dollars.
The Reds Community Fund is upgrading the ball fields and providing new backstops, and Miami University athletes will paint the concession stand.
Our volunteer fire department will take delivery of a new pumper/tanker in early 2020. It will be paid for upon delivery, rather than the township going into debt. Reily Township saved money until we could afford to pay for the new one. Our existing pumper is 20 years old.
We are supporting Butler Rural Electric and Cincinnati Bell in their effort to obtain funding from the USDA to expand fiber optics and high seed internet in the township. I discussed this very important subject with Congressman Warren Davidson over dinner.
The township trustees have been in contact with CSX, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to to install crossing guards at the dangerous Stephenson Road crossing. We have been concerned about the safety of cars and pedestrians, but especially the students on the 9 busses that cross every day. We have received word that the crossing guards are tentatively scheduled to be installed in 2020.
