1.Introduction of colloid and surface
2. Exploring the application of colloid
I have learnt that a homogeneous and heterogeneous mixture has another mixture which is suspension and colloidal dispersion. Suspension is a heterogeneous mixture composed of larger particles that are visible to the naked eye. For example mud and water.
I learned about the preparation of colloids. First we need to produce particles of colloidal dimension. For large particles we need to break down it and for smaller particles we need to combine it. It is very interesting to study more detail in this subtopic.
Now I know why some mixtures can be mixed together like ice cream, mayonnaise and lotion which has an emulsifying agent which inhibits coalescence of the dispersed liquid. And by watching this video i used to explore more about colloid which is Under chemical structure category are synthetic, natural, auxiliary agents and finely dispersed solids.
3.Industrial-related application.
IN THE PAINT INDUSTRY
One industrial application of colloids is in the production of paints. In the paint industry, colloidal suspensions of pigment particles in a liquid medium are utilised to achieve a uniform and stable dispersion. This ensures even color distribution and prevents settling of pigments over time.
Before this research, my knowledge of colloids was limited, and delving into their industrial applications opened my eyes to their significance in various sectors. The discussion session with the group provided valuable insights into the complexities and potential pitfalls in colloid-related industries.
To improve manufacturing challenges, my suggestion involves exploring advanced stabilizing agents to enhance the stability of colloidal systems. Additionally, optimising production processes to minimize agglomeration and investing in research for environmentally robust formulations could contribute to overcoming these challenges.
