Writing Center Internship

ENG 395 is an internship course taken by all UMaine Writing Center tutors to prepare us for tutoring. In this class, we covered a vast amount of material and strategies to guide us in becoming the best tutors we can be including tutoring strategies and best practices, open discussions and reflections on writing, mock tutoring, working with mentors, and composing some writing of our own. Two pieces we focused on during this internship were our term papers and our critical reflections, both of which I have linked below. We also created presentations summarizing our experiences in this class, which I've also included below.

395 Term Paper

Term Paper

My term paper covers the topic of transferring teaching practices between an academic writing center and figure skating using VARK learning styles to enhance the reader's understanding of teaching methods overall.

395 Critical Reflection

Critical Reflection

My critical reflection summarizes my experiences with tutoring and the writing center while taking ENG 395, from my own tutoring experiences, working with my mentor, my evolution as a writer, and my thoughts looking back on the progress I've made.
