COMMON QUESTIONS
The sound stops when I leave the app or lock the phone
Playing with the screen off or while you use another app is part of the
one-time purchase. Without it, playback stops when Hush is no longer on
screen. With it, the sound keeps going and you get lock screen controls.
I paid before, on another phone or after reinstalling
Open the unlock screen and tap Restore purchase. As long as you are signed in
with the same Apple ID or Google account, it comes back at no cost. The
purchase is permanent and is not a subscription.
A sound stops after twenty seconds
That is the preview for a locked sound, so you can judge it before deciding.
Seven sounds play with no limit and always will.
The sleep timer took ages to go quiet
That is deliberate. Hush fades out over the last forty-five seconds instead of
stopping, because silence arriving all at once is its own noise and it is the
change a sleeping baby notices.
Why does it ask for the microphone?
Only for one optional feature: Hush can listen for sustained loud sound nearby
and lift the volume to help mask it. It measures loudness and nothing else —
audio is never recorded, saved or sent anywhere. Say no and everything else
works exactly the same.
Can I play more than one sound at once?
Yes, with the purchase. Tap + on any other sound to layer it on top, then set
how much of each you hear. A combination you like can be saved and brought
back in one tap.
Is it safe to play all night next to a baby?
Hush levels every sound to the same loudness and ramps every volume change
rather than stepping it, so nothing ever jumps. How loud is still your call:
paediatric guidance is to keep a sleep sound well below a conversation and the
device away from the cot rather than beside it.
Where do the sounds come from?
Twenty-one of the twenty-five are real field recordings, all in the public
domain (CC0). The four noise colours — white, pink, brown and grey — are
generated by the app, because a generated one never repeats.
