STEM Outreach Program: Fishing for Neutrons (K–12)
A hands-on educational program introducing nuclear science and environmental testing through interactive learning. Ideal for schools, Tribal education programs, museums, and community STEM initiatives. Students “fish” for neutrons to explore how scientists detect elements in water and the environment, connecting foundational science concepts to real-world water protection and environmental stewardship.
This activity is adaptable for classrooms, STEM programs, after-school initiatives, and community events, with an emphasis on curiosity, inclusion, and culturally grounded learning.
