Every drop of water carries a story. Of land, of people, of resilience.
At Nibi-Clear, we unite Indigenous knowledge and nuclear science to read that story with atomic precision.
Through neutron activation analysis, we reveal what’s hidden beneath the surface, returning truth, data, and power to the Nations who protect these waters.
What does Nibi-Clear mean?
It starts with “Nibi”, the Anishinaabemowin word for water. Water is life, spirit, and connection. It reflects our foundation in community and our respect for Indigenous teachings that guide how we care for the land and each other.
Clear means more than just clean, it’s about clarity. Clarity in data, in decisions, and in the right of every Nation to control its own environmental information.
But it’s also a nod to “nuclear”, a reminder that the same scientific precision used to understand atoms can also protect our waters. Using Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA), we measure trace contaminants down to the parts-per-billion, making the invisible visible.
That’s who we are: culturally grounded, scientifically rigorous, and deeply committed to protecting water and sovereignty, with clarity at every scale, from nucleus to Nation.
Founded in 2024 by Angela Teeple, Nibi-Clear was created to make high-precision water testing accessible to communities who have historically been excluded from scientific infrastructure. Rooted in Anishinaabe teachings, we center water not just as a resource, but as life, responsibility, and relationship.
Using Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA), a research-grade technique capable of detecting contaminants at parts-per-billion levels, Nibi-Clear brings forensic-level environmental insight into community hands.
We are committed to ensuring that communities, especially Tribal Nations, have access to clear, reliable data while maintaining full ownership and control over their environmental information.
