My educational background

I received my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Beira Interior in Portugal in 2014. My Ph.D. thesis explores three topics in energy economics. The first study investigates oil consumption-economic growth nexus in different world regions. The second one examines crude oil production behavior by OPEC and non-OPEC producers. The third one analyzes the determinant factors behind oil price dynamics. Further, I received my Master’s degree in Economics from Department of Economics and Political Sciences of the Shahid Beheshti University in 2007 and my Bachelor’s degree in Theoretical Economics from Economics Faculty of University of Tehran in 2003.

My research background

My first research job after Ph.D. was at the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei, FEEM, in Milan, from Nov 2013 to Dec 2015. I was involved in the Commodity-Finance project investigating the interconnection between fossil fuels, agriculture, and metals prices in international markets.

Then, I was granted a one-year research fund by Iran's National Elites Foundation, from May 2016, to conduct my research at the University of Tehran, Department of Economics, as a postdoctoral researcher.

From August 2017 to April 2021, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Stavanger Business School, Department of Economic and Finance, working in Energy-Finance project funded by the Equinor. This project focused on energy transition issues in oil and gas industry. For example, I examined the interconnection between environmental and financial performance in oil and gas firms, considering the level of environmental commitment, moderating role of oil price, and geographical location of firms.

From May 2021 to May 2022, I was a researcher at the University of Trento, Department of Economics and Management, and from May 2022 to October 2023 I was a researcher at Free University of Bozen Bolzano. In both positions I was working in Seasonal Hydrological-Econometric Forecasting for Hydropower Optimization (SHE) project. This project aims to develop econometrics models for mid-term forecasting of electricity prices, considering fundamental drivers of the market.
